Contractor Question:
“Two questions on maintenance agreements. We are just starting to implement them. First, is it best to offer multiple options for maintenance agreements? Second, is there a “Terms of Service” or other document we need to create for our maintenance agreement?”
Contractor University Expert Response:
“Philosophically there is no right way to structure your agreements, but providing options gives customers choice. When you have choices you’re more likely to commit and not feel pressured into a decision.
However, when starting I recommend starting with one option and then building from there.
Then, focus on the following aspect of your agreement:
1. Train and engage your technicians
2. Internalize and gain efficiency
3. Create a simple way to pay and allocate bonuses
4. Implement a easy to track process
Building and refinning your process will take about 1-3 years.
I do believe it is in your best interest to strategize building in options but make sure your structure is sound before expanding.”
