In the October 2023 Snapshot Survey, we asked contractors how their revenues fluctuate throughout the year, specifically during the winter season. Here’s one survey question and its results from the summary report, which is available in it’s entirety by Contractor University members here.
How Does Your Revenue in the Winter Season Compare to Other Times of the Year?
Reflecting the trend in business volume, 70% of respondents reporta decrease in revenue during winter (39% slightly, 31% significantly), while only 13% see an increase. This decline in revenue underscores the financial challenges that winter brings, emphasizing the need for effective seasonal strategies to mitigate revenue losses and maintain financial stability. The correlation between decreased business volume and revenue drop in winter suggests that contractors need to diversify their service offerings or adopt innovative marketing strategies to offset seasonal fluctuations in demand.
Here’s what an HVAC contractor from Louisiana:
“Business is slower than usual. We try to focus on training our guys so we can make the most of each call that comes in, while leaning more on installs to try and breach revenue goals.”
