How Often Should a Residential HVAC Contractor Post & Why?

A Contractor University Member recently utilized the Ask-The-Expert Q&A feature within the member dashboard by submitting the following question and received the response below.

Contractor Question:

“How often should a residential HVAC contractor post on the internet and why?”

Contractor University Expert Response:

“Consistent posting is what builds a real footprint in your market. Homeowners respond to authentic, relatable content — your team, your culture, your recent installs, and before-and-after results. People want to feel like they’re hiring a trusted family to come into their home, not a faceless company.

Recommended Posting Frequency

1. Google Business Profile (GBP): 2–3 posts per week

This is your most important platform.

  • Helps you rank in the local map pack
  • Boosts visibility for “near me” searches
  • Ideal for seasonal offers, tune-up reminders, financing promotions, and updates

2. Facebook & Instagram: 3–5 posts per week

Great for:

  • Trust building
  • Local engagement
  • Social proof

Content ideas: before/after installs, technician spotlights, maintenance tips, promotions, community involvement.

3. TikTok or Reels: 2–3 short videos per week

Short-form video outperforms every other format.

Examples: “Things in HVAC that just make sense,” “Don’t do this to your AC,” funny tech moments, seasonal homeowner tips.

4. YouTube: 2 videos per month

A long-term SEO and authority builder.

Examples:

  • How to choose a new heat pump
  • Why your AC is freezing up
  • What a tune-up includes

5. Blog/Website Content: 1–2 quality posts per month

Drives long-term SEO and steady organic lead flow.

Examples:

  • 2025 HVAC tax credits explained
  • How often to replace air filters
  • Heat pump vs. gas furnace for Texas homes”
