How to Choose Marketing Channels

During this a Coaches’ Counsel open Q&A session, an HVAC Contractor in Oklahoma asked:

“Is it better to do telemarketing or direct mail? I need to know how to choose marketing channels.”

Tim Williamson began by explaining that in 2024, contractors have a wide range of marketing channels to choose from, and almost all of them will yield some cost-effective result, so a business owner should review his expenses and decide specifically which channel fits your market.

“Depending on the zip codes, all of them,” said Williamson. “If you want to target specific zip codes, target them, and then do it all.”

Williamson prefers to see marketing as a means to an end. If your pricing is done properly, than you should be able to maintain profitability regardless of the size of the jobs you take.

“The goal is to fill up your schedule,” said Williamson. “The more diverse you are in your activities, and the more consistent you are, the better it is for your business.”
