How Do You Keep Employees Connected to Their Work?

In the January 2023 Snapshot Survey, we asked contractors the shift from in-person to remote work. Here’s one survey question and its results from the summary report, which is available in it’s entirety by Contractor University members here.

If Your Company Has Had Remote Workers what Form of Communication Was Used to Keep Employees Connected?

EGIA Snapshot Survey - Working Remote

Our survey revealed the most prominent ways remote workers communicate with each other. Of contractors who had remote workers, software-based chat programs and text messaging were the most common forms of communication, with 15% and 17% of respondents selecting these options, respectively. Phone calls and email were selected by only 11% and 9% of respondents, respectively.

These findings suggest that, when it comes to keeping remote workers connected, companies are turning to more informal and instant forms of communication, rather than relying on more traditional methods such as phone and email. The high proportion of respondents who selected chat programs and text messaging also suggests that companies are prioritizing real-time communication as a means of ensuring that remote workers stay connected and informed.

Here’s what an HVAC contractor from Missouri:

“Communication is the foundation to successfully provide remote working opportunities. Email, chat and for us a web app are key in creating a great work atmosphere that we constantly modify to meet the needs of our workforce.”
