Snapshot Survey Results | Employee Development

In the July 2021 Snapshot Survey, contractors share their approach to employee development to help you incorporate best practices in your contracting business. Here’s one survey question and its results from the summary report, which will be available in its entirety to EGIA members on 8/15/21.

How often does your company provide internal training for its employees?

EGIA Snapshot Survey - employee development

Home services employee development is a practice in balance: too many trainings can take time away from jobs, but too few training opportunities can cause suboptimal retention of the topics you’re trying to improve. A consistent training regimen that fits your operational needs is important for you and your team. According to contractors who took our survey, 45% of organizations conduct training meetings weekly. Qualitative data collected from this question elaborated that sales and customer service training are typically provided weekly, whereas most other trainings are provided monthly.

Here’s what an HVAC contractor from Virginia said in the survey:

“We have weekly customer service trainings and monthly technical training in house by our Master level technicians. All the training is coordinated by our Business Development manager.”
