Snapshot Survey Results | Technical Training

In the November 2022 Snapshot Survey, we asked contractors about how they provide technical training for their employees. Here’s one survey question and its results from the “Technical Training” summary report, which will be available in its entirety to EGIA members on 12/23/22.

Who in your company do you provide technical training to?

EGIA Snapshot Survey - Technical Training

Whether its through ride-a-longs, hands-on exercise or online videos and quizzes, it is important for contractors to provide opportunities for their employees to grow their knowledge and continue developing their skills. In our survey, contractors shared that when they are providing technical training to their employees, they focus more so on training their service technicians (100%) and their maintenance technicians (78%) than on training their comfort advisors (52%) or their customer service representatives (50%). By ensuring that their employees have a better understanding of the technical parts of HVAC, contractors can provide a better customer experience as any employee will be able to provide answers to customer’s questions.

Here’s what an HVAC contractor from Indiana said in the survey:

“Ongoing technical training is a must! We have found a mix of in-person hands on training with quality online training and ride-alongs to be most effective. Our technicians have even started to request specific technical training topics!”
