Contractor Question:
“I’m looking for the best and most efficient way to create and track technician scorecards. Any recommendations?”
Contractor University Expert Response:
“I created an MVP report that breaks down 12 key performance measures I use regularly. You can find it in the Contractor University library under Service Management. It’s an Excel file — super straightforward — and a great starting point for tracking performance effectively.
That said, the good news is there are HR platforms with this functionality built in.
In addition to the standard KPIs, I’d suggest including callbacks and attendance in your scorecard. These are often overlooked but critical to evaluating a tech’s real-world performance.
As for timing, I use a scorecard and review weekly.
Who does the tracking? A Service Manager can own this process, and it works well when it’s done consistently.
Our team reviews reporting weekly, with a full company review monthly. This rhythm gives us a solid pulse without getting lost in the weeds.”
