Is Your HVAC Business Ready for 2027?

You know the feeling one moment you’re getting ready for Thanksgiving dinner and you blink and it’s fourth of July weekend. Another busy summer may feel far away, but the groundwork for a successful 2027 starts now. For HVAC contractors, waiting until the phones are ringing and schedules are full to think about growth can mean missing opportunities that could have been addressed months earlier.

Setting a goal to grow revenue by 20% is a good starting point, but how will you actually get there? A successful business plan goes beyond annual revenue targets, breaking those goals into measurable monthly, weekly and daily activities that drive results.

Know the Numbers Behind Your Goals.

Building a plan for 2027 starts with understanding the numbers that drive your business and what needs to change to reach your revenue targets.

Consider a few important questions:

  • How many incoming calls will you need to generate, and what marketing efforts will it take to produce them?
  • How many calls will turn into booked appointments and completed service calls?
  • What percentage of service calls will generate revenue beyond the diagnostic fee?
  • What is your current average service ticket, and what will it need to be in 2027?
  • How many replacement leads will your technicians need to generate, and how many will convert into sold installations?
  • How many new maintenance agreements will you need to sell and how many existing agreements will you need to renew?

Understanding these numbers allows you to work backward from your annual revenue goals and establish clear performance targets for your team.

It also helps identify opportunities to improve results. For example, increasing your average service ticket through better technician communication, more thorough system evaluations and presenting customers with appropriate repair options can have a meaningful impact on annual revenue.

The goal is to turn your business plan into something your team can execute and measure consistently.

Win the day. Win the month. Win the quarter. Win the year.

When you track performance, review progress and hold your team accountable, you can identify problems earlier, make necessary adjustments and keep your business moving toward its goals.
